Tracking Technology Omnibus
Compliance Framework: NDPA 2023 | Version 4.0 | Nigeria Operations
Yandaz Nigeria Limited ("Yandaz") employs a multi-layered telemetry and tracking architecture to manage our marketplace. This document serves as the definitive disclosure of all identifiers, data capture methods, and processing logics used to facilitate commerce across the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
1. Taxonomy of Tracking Technologies
We do not rely solely on standard HTTP cookies. Our platform utilizes a hybrid stack of identifiers designed for persistence and accuracy in the Nigerian digital environment:
1.1 Advanced Cookie Protocols
- Strictly Necessary Cookies: Essential for load balancing across our Lagos and AWS servers, securing the OPay/Paystack payment handshake, and maintaining encrypted authentication tokens.
- Persistent Session Cookies: Designed to keep you logged in for up to 30 days, preventing the friction of repeated logins on mobile devices.
- Cache-Control Cookies: Used to optimize page load speeds on 3G and 4G networks by identifying which assets are already stored on your local device.
1.2 Object & Client-Side Storage
We utilize IndexedDB and LocalStorage to store complex data structures such as your draft listings and chat history. This ensures that if your data connection drops (a common occurrence in remote areas), your work is not lost and can be synced once connectivity is restored.
1.3 Cross-Device Graphing (Fingerprinting)
To prevent fraudulent account scaling, we use "Canvas Fingerprinting" and "Hardware Entropy" to identify unique devices. This allows us to detect when one bad actor is operating 50 different accounts from a single smartphone, protecting the integrity of our buyer/seller community.
2. Telemetry and Behavioral Capture
Our tracking is not passive; it is active telemetry used to improve the Nigerian user experience:
Heatmapping: We track cursor movements and tap patterns to see which parts of the Yandaz app are confusing to users, allowing us to simplify the "Post an Ad" flow.
Event Stream: Every "Add to Favorites" or "Contact Seller" action is timestamped and logged to build your personal recommendation engine.
Network Diagnostics: We track latencies between your ISP (MTN, Airtel, Starlink) and our servers to automatically serve lower-resolution images when your speed is slow.
3. Third-Party Ecosystem & Data Intermediaries
We integrate with specialized partners who may drop their own trackers on your device:
- Marketing Partners (Meta, Google, TikTok): These pixels map your Yandaz activity to your social profiles to serve "Dynamic Ads" (showing you the exact car you viewed on Yandaz while you are on TikTok).
- Financial Security (SmileID): Uses tracking to facilitate 3D Liveness checks during seller verification, ensuring the person behind the screen matches their NIN or BVN record.
- CDN Providers (Cloudflare): Uses cookies to verify you are a human and not a malicious bot attempting a DDoS attack on the Yandaz infrastructure.
4. Zero-Rating and Data Sovereignty
In accordance with Nigerian consumer protection trends, Yandaz works toward zero-rating partnerships. Our trackers identify your Mobile Network Operator (MNO) to apply specific data-saving headers that minimize your browsing costs. Per NDPA 2023, all tracking data remains within our secure cloud, and we do not sell raw "Cookie Logs" to third-party data brokers.
5. Governance of User Consent
You have the irrevocable right to modify your tracking preferences:
5.1 The "Right to be Forgotten"
Upon deleting your Yandaz account, we initiate a "Global Purge" of your tracking identifiers. While some logs are kept for 7 years to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, your active tracking profile is terminated immediately.
5.2 "Do Not Track" (DNT) Signals
Yandaz honors DNT signals sent by modern browsers. If your browser is set to "Private" or "Incognito," we will only deploy "Strictly Necessary" cookies required to keep the site functional.
6. Biometric Tracking Disclosure
For high-value sellers in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, we may use tracking technologies that analyze biometric "liveness." This is restricted solely to the verification phase and is not used for general browsing tracking or marketing.
7. Mandatory Legal Disclosures
Notice of Amendment: Yandaz reserves the right to update this Tracking Omnibus as Nigerian cyber-laws evolve.
Conflict Resolution: Any disputes arising from the use of tracking technologies on the Yandaz platform shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and subject to the jurisdiction of Nigerian Courts.
End of Tracking Technology Policy.
